Young, charming Matthew Broderick send out to sell, sell, sell! - Mike Nichols' Biloxi Blues |
QUICK REVIEW:
Jerome's weeks as a private trainee in Biloxi, Mississippi in 1945, until the war ends, is a time with discoveries, exhaustion and drama.
Matthew Broderick (Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986)) is tremendous, and Christopher Walken (The Deer Hunter (1978)) as the eccentric and semi-loony Sergeant is just as good.
Matthew Broderick and Christopher Walken in the fine film by Mike Nichols, Biloxi Blues |
Many of playwright/screenwriter Neil Simon's (The Odd Couple (1968)) lines are hilarious, and the structure of the film is impeccable.
Biloxi Blues is moving and universally relevant with a few minor problems in the supporting cast.
Its German-born director Mike Nichols (The Graduate (1967)) finished his formidable career recently with Charlie Wilson's War (2007).
