QUICK REVIEW:
18 year-old Kristian works a summer with a janitor, John. He gets a lover in the 36 year-old mother, Sanne, SPOILER and that, of course, results in trouble.
Boy, co-written by director/actor Peter Gantzler (Italian for Beginners/Italiensk for Begyndere (2000)) and Iben Gylling (Tidsrejsen (2014), TV series), is extremely minimalistic in terms of plot, - and I would probably have added something more to it, had it been my 'baby'.
- But it is also well-acted, sensitive to its material and characters, and it contains some few, fine lines.
Sebastian Jessen (All You Need Is Love/Den Skaldede Frisør (2012)) is pretty in the title lead, who is trapped between mother figures, in great actor Gantzler's feature debut as director.
He has since directed the August Strindberg-based TV movie Faderen/The Father (2014), which I'm not sure whether or not has been shown yet.

[Boy was a bit controversial at its release, because it was simultaneously released in cinemas across Denmark in an 'event tour' with Gantzler and as VoD (video-on-demand), a first in Denmark. The film was made for very little money, a lot of it out of Gantzler's own pockets, and the actors agreed to work voluntarily. It received lukewarm reviews.]
