The Core (2003) - Jon Amiel serves the world an overload of stupidities in barely watchable catastrophe sci-fi turkey

+ Most Ridiculous Movie of the Year

The sensationalist poster for Jon Amiel's The Core

QUICK REVIEW:

The Core is a catastrophically bad catastrophe movie:
The rotating part of the Earth's inner core stops rotating and then has to, as tradition states, be rebooted with a giant nuclear bomb.
There is a row of good forces involved here: Richard Jenkins (Six Feet Under (2001-05)), Bruce Greenwood (Flight (2012)) and Aaron Eckhart (The Dark Knight (2008)) namely, but, boy, have they taken a wrong turn in signing up for The Core.
This film is so foolish that it's half-way funny, as when SPOILER the singing whales save the romantic couple at the end. - GASP! But most of the time, it's just unamusingly stupid.
The science in The Core is so unreal that it has even won a poll, where hundreds of scientists voted about what was the worst science fiction movie.
It is directed by Londoner English literature student, now filmmaker Jon Amiel (Copycat (1995)).
